Down the Shore
Vol. 7 - Week of October 19th
It was THE weekend for pumpkin picking if our social media feeds and the gorgeous weather were any indicators. We headed out to Eastmont Orchards in Colts Neck (previously mentioned in Newsletter Vol. 4) and came home with a haul of various apple varieties to snack on and make apple crisp with, as well as a few goodies from Delicious Orchards down the road.
Let’s get into the week ahead:
🐝 Business Spotlight: The Sweetest Buzz in Town
We recently stopped into the Beach Bee Meadery in Long Branch after seeing their ciders on display at the Fair Haven Farmers Market. And we left asking why isn’t mead more of a thing?! The space is filled with good vibes - a glowing honeycomb sign on the tasting room wall, a relaxing palm-decked patio, and it’s both dog and family friendly!

They just released their fall flavors - we recommend splitting a flight if you aren’t sure what to order yet. The following were recommended by the bartender:
Peach Cobbler Cider
Black Currant Cider
Apricot Sage Cider
Cranberry Rosemary Mead
Pumpkin Pie Mead - this one we liked so much, we took a bottle home.
🎥 Watch Parties
Severance Night at Bell Works
Watch our favorite dystopian office drama in the very location it’s filmed! Bar Bella in Bell Works is hosting a Severance Night on Thursday, October 23rd from 6-8 pm. There will be signature cocktails and Music Dance Experience (aka live music) by Cold Weather Company. You luckily don’t have to choose between being your innie or your outie to attend.
Hocus Pocus at Coffee Corral
For a viewing party that’s a little more family-oriented, Coffee Corral in Red Bank is hosting the beloved Halloween classic Hocus Pocus on Friday October 24th, as part of their weekly Fall Friday Movie Nights Series. It’s free to attend, but bring your own seating. Movie snacks are available for purchase - come hungry and leave spellbound! Next Friday is Ghostbusters.
☕️ What’s Brewing This Week
Speaking of coffee…if those darker mornings have made it harder for you to wake up, never fear. The NJ Coffee Festival is here! The event isn’t until November 1-2, but you can snag your tickets this week. A $20 GA ticket will get you access to the vendor marketplace, Brew School, and Coffee Conversations.
And if you can’t make the coffee festival, but still need a little pick me up until we gain an extra hour of sleep, here are two seasonal brews we recommend:
Rook’s Jersey Devil Roast - Named for the legendary creature of the Jersey Pine Barrens, with notes of licorice, dark chocolate, and vanilla. We’re almost through our bag of beans already!
Batch on Main (Manasquan) - Pumpkin Marshmallow Cold Foam (Comes in Dairy and Non-Dairy). We had the dairy version of the Cold Foam with a black cold brew, which was incredible.
🗣️ Word of Mouth: NJ Founders on How I Built This
The beloved surfer chic clothing brand Faherty was recently featured on the “How I Built This with Guy Raz” podcast. Spring Lakers and twin brothers Alex and Mike Faherty talk about how they grew their Jersey Shore business into a massive brand and 80 stores today. We also love their Sun & Waves market that opened last year in Spring Lake.
